Make a gap after a line or paragraph of text. You may use the tag to add extra space in a document if you need to add extra space below a line or paragraph of text only once. Here's an example of how to use this strategy. The element is used to indicate a paragraph.
You can use CSS to style these tags if you want to change the look of them. This is useful if you want to make sure that they look consistent with other paragraphs in your documents.
To insert a standard space, click where you want it and hit the spacebar. Normally, no matter how many times you hit the space bar, HTML will only show one space between words. Type to insert an additional space.
This method works for normal spaces but not for non-breaking spaces. To insert a non-breaking space, use instead of a normal space.
In a section of the manuscript, change the line spacing.
Go to Design > Paragraph Spacing and choose Double to double-space the whole manuscript. To double-space only a portion of the text, select the paragraphs to be changed, go to Home > Line and Paragraph Spacing, and pick 2.0.
Navigate to Home > Paragraph and Line Spacing. Select Line Spacing Choices, and then select the Spacing options you wish. To adjust the spacing between the chosen paragraphs, click the arrow next to Before or After and input the desired amount of space. Click OK to apply the changes.
