To modify the default spacing between paragraphs, go to the Design tab and choose Paragraph Spacing. Insert the insertion point in the paragraph you wish to alter, or choose the paragraphs. Select the Page Layout tab. Spacing Before and Spacing After fields show the current spacing. You can use the drop-down menus to set different amounts of space before and after each paragraph.
Change the paragraph by clicking anywhere in it. Navigate to Layout and, under Spacing, alter the spacing before and after the paragraph by clicking the up or down arrows. Click OK.
Click "Remove space before the paragraph" or "Add space after the paragraph" to modify the spacing between paragraphs. Click Custom spacing to enter a custom size. Then, input the amount of space you want between paragraphs and click Apply. The change will apply to all new documents based on the template you're using.

You may also directly type a number. Press Enter to create your first paragraph with that setting.
Change the text by selecting it. Click Paragraph on the Format menu, then the Indents and Spacing option. In the Between lines box, input or pick the amount of space you want between lines of text under Line spacing. Press OK to apply the change.
To format paragraph spacing, first pick the paragraph or paragraphs to be formatted. Click the Line and Paragraph Spacing command on the Home tab. Click "Add Space Before Paragraph" or "Remove Space After Paragraph" from the drop-down menu. The paragraph spacing in the document will alter. To view your changes, click OK.
