Something I'm incredibly thankful for: my accomplishment, the completion of my dissertation, would not have been possible without this person's support and nurture. I can't even begin to thank... who... less forcefully, but very gratefully: I'd want to express my heartfelt gratitude to... I also want to thank...
Grateful acknowledgments are used when someone gives you something (usually money) in return for your appreciation or thanks. Acknowledgments are usually written letters that people send to those who have given them gifts. However, it is acceptable to speak directly with the recipient about your feelings.
In addition to being grateful, make sure to give credit where it is due - mention anyone who helped with the gift, project, or occasion in your letter. Also include any relevant information about how the donor wanted you to refer to them; for example, if they request to be called "Mr. or Ms. so-and-so", then use those names throughout your letter.
Finally, be sure to sign your letter. This should be done by simply writing your full name at the end of the letter. If you do not sign your letter, others may not know who is sending it and may think that you are not aware of its value. Even if you are sending multiple letters, always sign each one so that everyone knows who is responsible for which letters.
