There are 219 words every minute. So if you read at a rate of 100 words per hour you will finish a page of text in just under nine hours.
A typical adult reader reads at a rate of 250-300 words per minute so a young adult would need to increase their reading speed by a factor of four to five to have a chance of finishing a book within a reasonable time.
However, there are some very fast readers who can read 450-500 words per minute so they could possibly finish a book in less than three hours. But since the average length of a novel is 120-150 pages long it would be difficult for them to cover enough text in that time.
So the simple answer is that even a young adult would need to increase their reading speed by a significant amount to be able to read at the rate of a normal adult reader.
