LVH keywords are uncommon terms that are found in very specific documents. These words can only be used once within the text and require extensive research to determine their value. They tend to be more difficult to rank for than HVLV keywords.
The difficulty of keywords can also be measured by looking at the number of sites that are competing for them. If there are several hundred sites that all want to be ranked for the same keyword, then that is considered a hard keyword.
