The amount of white space between two paragraphs is referred to as paragraph spacing. Controlling spacing, like choosing the appropriate font or adequate margins, is a crucial component of text layout. Spacing helps readers navigate through a document and perceive the relationship between different parts of text.
There are three main types of paragraph spacing: single, double, and triple. Single spacing leaves a single line space after each paragraph. This is the default setting for new documents. Double spacing has twice as much space between paragraphs as single spacing. Triple spacing has three times as much space between paragraphs as single spacing.
You can change the default paragraph settings in Microsoft Word. On the Tools menu, click Options. In the Options window, on the Paragraph section, click the Default button next to Number of Lines. Select your preference from there. Click OK to close the Options window.
Spacing affects all pages in a document. If you want to change the spacing for only a few pages, then you should do it before you print or convert the document.
The spacing between lines in a paragraph is controlled by line spacing. Assume you're using a 12 point font for your paragraph's text. The distance between lines will be 12 points if you pick single line spacing. The distance between lines will be 24 points if you pick double spacing.
