, sometimes known as Enheduana, En-hedu-ana, or variations; fl. 23rd century BC, is the first poet whose name has been documented. She was a princess of ancient Egyptian royalty and the wife of Nuwa, the king of semized (present-day Abu Dhabi). Their marriage is estimated to have taken place around 2300 BC.
Nuwa died when he was only thirty years old, but before his death, he appointed his wife Queen Regent of Egypt. She ruled for several years after his death until her son by another husband came of age.
Enheduanna is best known for her poetic works, which include prophecies that were used to advise kings during times of war and peace. The most famous of these poems is called "The Prophecy of Enheduanna", which comes from shortly after King Nuwas' death in about 2300 BC. It describes how life will be like water, with plenty of happiness at its peak and total destruction at its end. This poem would help guide later kings through similar circumstances.
Besides being queen regnant, Enheduanna is also known for her role in establishing royal culture in Egypt. As one of the earliest poets, she helped spread awareness about royal authority and inspired future generations with her own work.
The writer, poet, and priestess wrote various works of literature, but the modern world has mostly forgotten about her. Enheduanna, a lady who lived in ancient Mesopotamia in the 23rd century BCE, is often regarded as the world's earliest known novelist (approximately 2285-2250 BCE). She was probably the only author among many scholars who worked on various projects during her lifetime.
What books did Enheduanna write? Only two of her works have survived today: The Proverbs of Sumer and The Prophecies of Ninsun. They describe how love should be shown to others and what happens when you do not treat people with kindness. Enheduanna also wrote poems that discuss similar topics, but we will never know them now because most of them have been lost over time.
Why is Enheduanna important for writers? Her story shows that people needed guidance on how to act towards each other long before there were any authors or publishers. Even though she lived in a time when people seemed to know what they wanted to hear rather than truth, Enheduanna still managed to inspire future generations by being the first writer in history.
Who else wrote books in ancient Mesopotamia? There are more than ten different literary texts from this period, all written by men. However, women played an important role in society, so it makes sense that some of them would want to share their thoughts with others through writing.
Enheduanna was the first known writer in ancient Egypt. Her name is written in two words separated by a comma, and she is regarded as the founder of poetry in Egypt.
She is also considered the mother of language because she invented or refined the techniques of composition that would later become standardized by professional poets.
In addition to being the first poet, Enheduanna is also regarded as the first teacher because she taught others how to compose poems and music. She probably lived around 3000 B.C. in ancient Egypt.

Homer (c. 8th century B.C.) wrote Iliad and Odyssey about the Trojan War and its aftermath. He is regarded as the father of history writing.
Virgil (70-19 B.C.) wrote The Aeneid about the fall of Troy and did much to establish Italy as a major power. He is regarded as the father of Latin literature.
Poetry. The Shijing ("Classic of Poetry"), the first anthology of Chinese poetry, comprising of temple, court, and folk songs, was given definitive form during the time of Confucius (551-479 bce). The poems in this collection were all spoken orally before they were written down by hand, so it can be said that the Shijing is the first recorded example of a written language.
The poem itself is usually composed of four lines with three strokes in each line and several hundred years old. But what makes the Shijing special is not only its age but also its content. The main purpose of the anthology was to honor the gods and pray for prosperity for the state of Chu, which made it very political. During the time of Confucius, the most popular poets were named after their tribes or regions of origin, such as Li, Ji, Yu, and Zhou. These poets wrote about daily life in their communities and sang praises for the leaders.
After the fall of the last Shang king in 1046 BCE, the power was split between two sons who fought over the throne. The prince of Zhao prevailed and he adopted the title "Emperor" of China. He established his capital at Chengzhou (present-day Beijing) and built a large palace where scholars and artists could live and work. They made music, painted pictures, and wrote poems there too.
An epic poem about the actual King Gilgamesh, who governed Sumerian Uruk (modern-day Iraq) circa 2700 BC. This is the earliest known written narrative, period, anywhere in the world. The earliest known copies of this poem come from around 2000 BC and are written in Sumerian cuneiform.
It's been suggested that this poem started a tradition of telling stories about famous people from history. But since no other early writings have been found, we can't be sure how old this tradition actually is.
The original version of "Gilgamesh" was probably not meant for public reading but instead used by priests and rulers when making decisions about war and peace. It may even have been performed to an audience! However, some later versions were read out loud to large groups of people. These readings helped spread knowledge about the good and bad effects of different actions to those who wouldn't have otherwise heard them.
In addition to being a historical figure, Gilgamesh is also considered one of the founders of mythological writing. His adventures have been told and retold throughout many cultures over time, so he has become synonymous with storytelling itself.
Early writers didn't use sentences or paragraphs. Instead, they used units such as stanzas and lines which included several words or phrases that made up a complete idea or thought.
