Whether you want it or not, Word creates space between paragraphs. There are no extra paragraph marks if you display paragraph markers. This is a feature of Word's style. When you hit the Enter key to start a new paragraph, Word raises the line spacing to indicate the transition from one paragraph to the next. This may not be what you expect or desire.
If you want to remove this space completely, you can do so by changing the line spacing for the whole document. Go to Tools > Options > Paragraph and select a value from the Line Spacing drop-down list. You can also specify a percentage by typing a number into the Padding box. This tells Word how much space to add at the end of each line.
However, there are times when you might want to leave this space in place. For example, if you want to create some space between two quoted passages from different sources, you can do so by inserting a blank line in between them.
With the concealed characters displayed, you may be able to determine what is generating the additional space. When you have selected the paragraph, click to Format > Paragraph and check the Spaces Before and Spaces After options. If additional points were added to the paragraph style, you can remove them to free up space. Otherwise, contact your software vendor for help.
Simply proceed to the end of the line and hit enter once. This generally occurs when we do not push enter after the sentence has ended, but instead continue typing "space," and the sentence begins on the following line. This void is caused by a section break. To remove this, you will need to justify the paragraph back to its original position.
